Tell us about your time with PES.

I have been with PES for about 3 years now, though I have worked in the industry for about 10 years. Being a senior designer, there’s a lot of freedom afforded to me in the company—which is great, because I have a lot of responsibilities.

Generally speaking, my job is to oversee all design projects from completion to delivery, which includes project management and the development (and improvement) of our drafting & design standards. Of course I can’t do this alone, which is why I’m also responsible for building the best damn team around!

What does an average day look like to you?

Like most people, my average day starts with a fresh cup of coffee. When I get to the office I make sure to give everyone a high-five, fistbump or secret handshake (depending on the person), to ensure that everyone knows that I’m here and ready to work!

After I’ve said hey to everyone, I make a game plan for on-going projects and take inventory of what resources are needed to finish everything. Then I check in with everyone to see if anyone needs help with anything and to make sure that I haven’t overlooked anything for the day.

When I get back to my desk, it’s time to rock ‘n’ roll!

This means I’m spending the rest of my day drafting and designing new tools and equipment. Time really flies when I’m at my desk, so I make sure to step away periodically to answer emails and talk to clients. Before I know it, the work day is coming to an end—but I don’t leave until the job is done!

What’s your favorite part about working at PES?

I love being surrounded by intelligent people who also know how to have fun. Working in this environment really has a way of inspiring me to grow and better myself, and I hope I have that same impact on those around me. It’s funny how the office can sometimes be as quiet as a library, or as loud and entertaining as a comedy show. I love it!

Why do you do what you do?

I enjoy the mystery of not knowing what the next challenge is. We deal with a wide range of equipment and designs, which means I’m always learning and challenging myself. There’s just something about seeing a sketch on a piece of a napkin turn into a finished project that energizes me.

Basically, I find my work both exciting and rewarding—which is all anyone can hope for.

Any hobbies or interests you’d like to share?

I like anything competitive. I can’t help it. Whether it’s fishing, sports or even just a board game, I’m a very naturally competitive person. But if you met me, you’d probably expect that.

Something most people wouldn’t expect? I collect books!

Would you rather never lose your phone again, or never lose your keys again?

I’ve lost more phones than you can imagine, so I’m gonna have to go with never losing my phone again. WIth a phone, you have access to a larger pool of resources and can contact people much faster than you could ever drive to them.
