Tell us about your time with PES.

I have been with PES for eight years now, but have been working in the industry for 18. I love working at PES. We have a great team and everyone takes care of each other. There’s never a dull moment and the team is quick to recognize each other for their accomplishments. As a project manager, I wear quite a few hats. Some days I need to think like an engineer, sometimes I’m focused on product design while other moments I need to roll up my sleeves to support my peers with whatever task is at hand. Basically, I’m the office problem solver.

What does an average day look like for you?

I try to get to the office early so I can plan out my priorities for the day. My mornings are spent answering questions and helping the rest of the team plan out their objectives so that we can keep things moving. After that, I follow up with customers and make sure everything is great on their end. Then, once everyone else is taken care of, I start to work through my list of tasks for the day. Even then, I like to keep an open-door policy to support any questions the team might have along the way.

What is your favorite part of the job?

I love the variety of work. One day I might be designing a 2-Phase Separator and the next day I may be running an FEA on a subsea tool—every day brings new challenges and opportunities to overcome them. Outside of that, I love my team’s commitment to our core values. Our core values shape our entire creative process and inform every decision we make; with everyone understanding and appreciating the same four values, everyone works together as a single unit.

Why do you do what you do?

My inquisitive nature really pilots everything that I do. I’ve always been curious about how things work. It’s not enough for me to look at a piece of technology and just assume it’s going to work as it should, because I really want to understand all the intricate background processes that keep things ticking. At the end of the day, I just love solving problems and I seem to have found a place that rewards me for that.

Any hobbies or interests you’d like to share?

God, family and balance are very important to me. While the time I spend in the office is incredibly rewarding, it’s crucial to have a good work-life balance. That’s why I cherish every moment that I spend with my family. The time spent coaching my kids and taking my family camping matter the most to me. But whenever I have time for myself, I try to learn a few more chords on guitar or squeeze in a round of golf.

Would you rather never be stuck in traffic again, or never get another cold?

Never get stuck in traffic again! I don’t get sick very often (knock on wood), so the way I see it, the less time I spend in traffic the more time I can spend at home with my family.
